Family Therapy

I work with families dealing with:

New babies or pregnancy

Adoption

Grief

New life stages or transitions

Preparing for a new sibling

Patterns of conflict

Poor communication

Other challenges

I work to create a safe and warm environment for each member fo the family to reflect on their own contributions to the family dynamic and how each would like to change the patterns of interaction. Depending on ages of children, I use developmentally appropriate intervention strategies to engage children and teens in the process. I can also provide conflict resolution for parents, whether in a relationship or not, for how to best support their children.

Often, having a new perspective on family dynamics can help families to recognize unhelpful patterns and learn new strategies to improve interactions. Psychoeducation for parents can also help them to gain new insight into how to be calm, mindful, present parents for their children and teens in this age of increasing distraction. Setting aside time for family therapy can help a family prioritize connection and help each family member find the best way to show up in their relationships.
